Memorial Day & Weekend

This past weekend one of my besties moved in with us, we own a 4 bedroom home and figured WTH, the room is just sitting there, might as well take advantage of it before we start having babies. Saturday my MIL and I went to the bay area, where I got to pick out granite for not one but two of my bathrooms (My present from her for my 30th, she pretty much is the most awesome MIL anyone could hope for.) Visited her Aunt Muggs, who I adore and may be the funniest person I've met, we lunched at Big Joe's it was delish! Sunday we went to brunch at Nena's on the waterfront (Michilada & chorizo w/eggs, homemade flour tortillas, delish...again!) with Joe's aunt and uncle who were visiting from Colorado. I ended up spending the day with them and their son Jordan, he's my fav. It was sad to say goodbye, tear.

Memorial Day we decided to host a BBQ at the park, we wanted to keep it easy peasy, which we did. SOmething we may want to do yearly. It was so much fun. The weather was kinda eh, but we had fun none the less. I got some great news from a friend but I can't share for a few weeks. Hope you enjoyed your Memorial day weekend and remembered what it was really all about.

Front of our home

Here's a picture of the front of our house minus the garage. The yard needs a lot of work, and we have already done some of it.

Foodie Friday - Baked Broccoli

I had this broccoli prepared for me once while having dinner over at Kristen's (follow her she is pretty awesome), I really enjoyed how easy and tasty it was. I of course used my silpat but you can make this on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. My husband who isn't a huge veggie fan said he would be okay having this two nights a week for dinner, SCORE!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Rince and dry broccoli place in a bowl
Sprinkle with "house seasoning" (about 1 Tablespoon)
Slice 6 cloves of garlic add to bowl
Drizzle with 2 Tablespoons of OO, lightly toss
Bake fot 8 minutes, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve

Want It, Wednesday #1

Want It, Want It!

These chairs from Anthropologie are FABULOUS, I would love them for my backyard or even my front yard. I'm in love with all four!

I also saw a post on style-files about the chairs.

Holiday/Wedding/Road Trip

Today we are road tripping to Temecula, CA. My father in law is driving, mother in law has shotgun and Joe and I have the back seat, I feel like I'm eleven again.

My sister in law, sister is getting married on Saturday. We left a couple of days early to make it a holiday (I now say holiday instead of vacation, yes still obsessed with the royals).

Two hours into the trip I've realized I left my shampoo, conditioner, Pinot Noir and favorite cardigan behind, totally bummed. Our room is a mess, I can't stand coming home to a messy room...but I once heard "a perfectly kept house is a sign of a misspent life" ha I'll have to repeat that in my head this weekend.

Friday and a Friday Find

This past week has flown by, I think it's because I'm 30. I'm just happy it's a Friday!

For the Friday Find I am going to share with you a garlic peeler from Zak Designs. I love cooking with fresh garlic but peeling garlic is not one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen along with dishes. I use this garlic peeler to help me it is great and every kitchen shoould have one. It may look like just a blue tube but it works great.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there, I hope your weekend is relaxing and peaceful!

Time to ride

For my 30th birthday I received lots of great things. One of the gifts was a beach cruiser. This evening I am going riding with  Erin (she bought one also) . Last summer we started riding in September, way late for the season. We are determined to ride as much as we can, with gas being ridiculously expensive bicycles seem like the perfect mode of transportation. My coworker and I are also going to strat riding to work every MWF, we are fortunate enough to live near each other, I'll keep you posted on how it goes, the only thing that will stop us his the heat, I will not be riding in 103 degree weather! My cruiser came with a cup holder and a basket but I am also thinking I may need one of these for my other bike...

Here is a picture of my cruiser
Isn't she beautiful?

Well HELLO!

Hello!
I have been and on again of again blogger, more off than on. I have never really found exactly what I want to blog about. I've gone back and forth between my relationships, food, crafts, my house and the list goes on and on. In past few months I have become quite the blogaholic and during my blog buzz/blog intoxication, I realized I can blog about all of it, all together on one blog...genius, lol. Some blogs have so much pizazz I get intimidated but I figure I can learn. So here you will find all of it my random thoughts, daily adventures, the food I eat, pretty much just me.

So a little about me:
I'm a wife which is the best thing I have ever done, I adore my husband, we have no children...yet. I work in a doctor's office, I absolutely love my job and my co-workers. I have one brother who is one my most favorite people ever. I love my friends and family. I'm a happy girl, who truly enjoys my life. I love to sleep in on Saturdays, surf the net, snorkel, and visit new places. Yesterday I turned 30, I thought it was going to be pretty much the most horrific thing to happen to me but it wasn't, it's actually quite lovely being 30. You'll learn more about me as we go along, and hopefully I will learn more about me as we go along.

One last thing before I go, I had or have a slight obsession with the royal wedding. My husband who is a bit of a night owl woke up me up at 2am (per my request), had the royal wedding channel on, he also had a nicely wrapped gift box with him. He told me it was a early birthday present and I needed to open it..it was PEARLS a beautiful long strand of pearls. Now I am half awake with pearls in hand and the royal wedding in front of me, texting with one of my friends commenting on how cute prince Harry looks and how stunning Kate looks. I have two favorite parts from the wedding first the quote "Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire."-   St Catherine of Siena, this quote makes me want to do wonderful things with my life and my second favorite moment: her smirk when he said "for richer or poorer." Darling, we will never be poor.

Her with her prince,

and me with mine,
XOXO, Rachel
